Qingdao
Living in Qingdao is a pleasant mix of beaches, rocky headlands and picturesque trees. It’s a relatively new city, emerging in the last 100 years, therefore accommodation is primarily of newer style.
The city will host several events for the 2008 Olympics, including the sailing competitions, so accommodation on and around the coast will be at a premium. Several universities, including the Ocean University of China compete for students’ attention against the stunning beach.
Qingdao is one of the largest seaports in China, and industry has grown around this. Immigration is substantial, driven by the abundant work, and Qingdao has a large expatriate community, particularly Koreans, that add a vibrancy to its 7 million inhabitants. |
